Canada, Toronto: Labour for Palestine Contingent at Labour Day Parade. 6.9.10

Join us in celebrating the successes of BDS in the labour movement and working towards more!

See you at the Labour for
Palestine contingent on Labour Day. Bring noise
makers, Palestinian flags and your union flags.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) call from Palestine. Around the world labour unions are standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people, many have passed resolution in support of BDS and continue to work to end the siege on Gaza. Recently, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, following an announcement that Israel Post has suspended mail delivery to Gaza, issued a statement encouraging people who wish to send mail to Gaza to get their mail onto the Canadian boat bound for the blockaded Palestinian territory (full annoucement here: http://www.cupw.ca/1/2/4/3
/8/index1.shtml).

The exploitation of Palestinian workers and the destruction of the Palestinian
economy are pillars of Israeli occupation and apartheid. On
February 11, 2007, the Palestinian workers' federations and vocational and professional trade unions issued a call for workers solidarity to:

. Boycott and divest from
Israel
. Work towards sanctions upon
Israel
. Boycott the Histadrut (Israeli trade union federation)

They appealed for such actions "until
Israel stops its crimes against the
Palestinian people and implements international law and human rights." (for
